Dublin Building Systems of Dublin, Ohio, recently celebrated 50 years in business and 40 years as a Varco Pruden Builder. The family-owned company was started by Vic Irelan in 1969 and is now led by his sons, Rich and Tom Irelan, and son-in-law Bob Howe (left to right, in picture above).
“In the late ’70s and the early ’80s, my father, Vic Irelan, served as President of the Metal Building Association and became friends with Bob Kelly, VP’s President at that time,” said Rich Irelan, vice president of sales & marketing. “Bob convinced him to look into VP, as we were American builders at the time. We tried one project with VP, and the rest is history!”
From that first project, this long-standing partnership has been reinforced in numerous ways over the years. With many metal building suppliers in the industry, Varco Pruden’s strengths and people have kept Dublin a loyal builder.
“We remain a loyal VP Builder because of VP’s superior engineering abilities, high-quality products, and competitive pricing,” said Rich. “Vic and I both have served many terms on the Regional Advisory Board and President’s Advisory Council. The first time I met Paul Day, we became friends, and to this day, I can call Paul on his cell phone with any issues or questions that I may have. That doesn’t happen with just any metal building manufacturer! We appreciate the long-term relationships we have developed with VP and look forward to making future ones.”
Throughout their 40-year tenure, Dublin has partnered with VP to build hundreds of buildings. A couple of their favorite VP projects have been:
- Nationwide Insurance hangar at John Glenn International Airport – It has a 30′ deep box truss that spans over 200′.
- Navistar Distribution Center in Urbana, Ohio – The largest project to date, with 355,000 SF and over 1,500 tons.
- Hidaka USA in Dublin, Ohio – Six expansions and multiple overhead cranes.
Please join us in congratulating Dublin Building Systems on their 40th Anniversary as a Varco Pruden Builder.
