Who knew farming could be so much fun?

That’s what visitors and locals will learn by visiting the Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center in Manitowoc, WI. This state-of-the-art agricultural education center, built on 36 acres, is just the right place to come and immerse oneself in all things farming.

The interactive facility features over 10,000 sq. ft. of educational exhibits. There is something for everyone – a bus tour of the Grotegut dairy farm, a birthing center where visitors can watch a calf’s birth, and a corn harvest simulator. Before you leave, visitors can stop in for some good ole ice cream made from milk produced on the farm or visit the Country Store and Gift Shop.

The partnership between VP and Bayland Buildings Inc., with Farm Wisconsin was essential in providing the unique design of this Educational and Entertainment facility,” said Jeff Sabel of Bayland Buildings, Inc. “The pre-engineered building and component package provides the desired agricultural façade. The inside includes a full-service conference center, interactive education exhibits, theater, gift shop, café, and calf birthing center utilizing the latest technology for building efficiency and educational experience.”

The partnership between Bayland Buildings and Varco Pruden started in 1992. Bayland is one of the most recognized and respected building firms in the state of Wisconsin. The 46,022 square foot Discovery Center has an SLR II roofRigid Frame framing system, and Vee Rib wall panels.

“This is truly a showcase project that couldn’t have been done by just any contractor,” said Tom Lienhardt, VP District Manager. “Bayland Buildings did an excellent job. I have personally toured this beautiful facility. Its main purpose is to educate people on the Midwest agricultural industry. Everyone at Varco Pruden Buildings is very proud to have been part of this exciting facility. It showcases the strength a VP / Builder relationship can accomplish together.”

With a dedicated team of over 200, including an in-house design department, licensed structural engineer, licensed architect, architectural designers, and a permit coordinator, Bayland can offer full total project integration, allowing them to control their projects and timelines without compromising the overall quality of each project. Bayland’s building projects extend throughout the United States and Canada.
