This 200-foot clear span building addition is attached to a former General Motors facility that was renovated for GFL. The Varco Pruden metal building is a material recycling transfer station. Using state-of-the-art equipment, it separates single stream recyclables, which reduces contamination, sends more pure materials to mills and diverts recyclables from landfills.
The building was designed with a walkway that allows people to walk through the facility without having contact with machinery. This feature provides an educational opportunity for students and other members of the community to learn about recycling.
This recycling facility was recognized as a 2023 Hall of Fame winner in the Miscellaneous category.
